The seventieth anniversary of the creation of the first nucleus of Geophysics
in Romania – the Department of Geophysical Exploration of the Geological

Chair of Geophysics – and of the forty generations of specialists formed
by this school, and, not in the least, the research in the Geophysics materialized
by the seventeen National Symposia of Earth Physics and Applied Geophysics
and a significant amount of published scientific papers and books, are discussed.
Key words: geophysics, research, education, anniversary.
