THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE APPLIED GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH
TO THE EXPLORATION ACTIVITY
(Abstract)
The organizational frame and the contribution of the research in Applied
Geophysics to the seventy years of geophysical exploration in Romania are reviewed.
The geophysical mapping (gravity, magnetics, tellurics, geothermal), regional
geophysical syntheses (Eastern Carpathians, Transylvanian Basin, salt formations,
eruptive terrains), new techniques (induced polarization and transient electromagnetic
methods, surface geothermics, high frequency seismics, micromagnetic and gravity
techniques, etc.) are discussed in relation to their contribution to the knowledge
of mineral resources in Romania. Also, the present trends of this activity
are outlined.
Key words: applied geophysics, exploration, Romania, history.
