A NORMAL FIELD FOR THE ROMANIAN SECTOR OF THE BLACK SEA SHELF
(Abstract)

The normal geomagnetic field for the Romanian Black Sea shelf, epoch 1985,0, adopted as reference level for the magnetic survey of the area at the scale of 1:200,000 is presented. The optimum variant has been chosen by analyzing the advantages and drawbacks of several candidates. Advantages related to the larger area of validity and possibilities of direct comparison with measurements on land and on future marine panels, made us suggest the International Geomagnetic Reference Field as the bet variant. For the study area, an additional "crustal field", also given in the paper, might be used, as an option, to remove a weak remanent regional variation.
Key words: Geomagnetism, reference field, crustal field, Black Sea shelf, Romania.
