DIGITAL PROCESSING AND COMPUTER EDITING OF DATA
OF THE SURLARI GEOPHYSICAL OBSERVATORY
(Abstract)
Since December 1989, the Surlari Geophysical Observatory operates one digital
recording system of DIMARS type.
The data are recorded on 5.25 inch floppy disks of 360 K capacity, consisting
of one minute values of the H, D, Z geomagnetic elements, being the mean of
the 2 seconds samples, structured in daily files.
The data are processed at the PC – IBM AT, according to a set of programs,
written in BASIC and FORTRAN languages by the authors of the present papers.
The final results of these programs are presented in the forms required by
the international standards of IAGA and are send to the Geomagnetic Data Centers,
to the Worldwide Center for Magnetic Indices, to the other observatories as
well as are used directly for the observatory's annual report editing.
This new data recording and processing system of the geomagnetic elements will
assure the Surlari Observatory to be included into the worldwide geomagnetic
network.
Key words: DIMARS, reference curve SR, digital and hand-scaled magnetic K-indices.
