GEOPHYSICAL MODEL SIMULATING THE SUMULEU VOLCANIC STRUCTURE
(GURGHIU MOUNTAINS) BASED ON THE QUANTITATIVE INTERPRETATION
OF GRAVITY AND AEROMAGNETIC DATA
(Abstract)
Taking into account the geological, petrophysical and geophysical data (mainly
gravity and aeromagnetic ones), a three-dimensional model for the Sumuleu volcanic
edifice has been obtained.
The esulted structural pictures revealed that the analysed geophysical anomalies
may have different sources – unaltered or hydrothermally transformed
magmatites, both categories being components of this andesitic structure.
Such a quantitative interpretation could also be utilised for other eruptive
edifices of the East Carpathians volcanic chain, in order to obtain more structural
information providing clues for metallogenetical purposes.
Key words: three dimensional modeling, gravity and aeromagnetic data, volcanic
structure, East Carpathians.
