AND POSSIBLE INFLUENCES ON THE VRANCEA SEISMOGENE ZONE

(ABSTRACT)

The Black Sea has formed as a back-arc basin of the Neotethys ocean, during Cretaceous and Eocene.
The reverse character of the faults and some seismic events can be regarded as proofs of a recent/present compressional state of the Black Sea basin.
The displacements of the Pontic north-western tectonic blocks possible exercise an influence on the dynamics of the Vrancea area.

Key words: back-arc, extension, fracture, compression, reactivation, dynamics, active, earthquake.
