Petrographic and petromagnetic correlation studies helped solving some interesting
problems concerning the Neogen magmatism in the Baia de Aries district. In
a volcanic complex the natural remanent magnetization values are much greater
in enrooted bodies (necks, subvolcans, dykes, apophysis) than in lavas and
pyroclastics. They are also much greater in the central part of a neck than
on its borders. The morphology of the Z
isodynamics reflects the inner constitution of a subvolcanic body. The magnetic
parameters of the andesite are not affected
by the propylitic transformation but are very diminished with potassium hydrothermalisation;
especially the natural remanent magnetization diminishes much quicker than
the magnetic susceptibility.
