SOME REMARKS ON GEOLOGICAL EVOLUTION AND RESULTS IN THE AQUATORIAL CENTRAL DOBRUJA MOESIAN SECTOR
(Abstract)
The morphological structure and relative position of the aquatorial end of
the central Dobruja Moesian Sector were favorable factors in the convergence
and westward orientation of compressional efforts originating in the Crimean
Pontide and Balkanide orogens existing in this area. The structural remodeling
of this rector took place during Cretaceous and Eocene.
During and mainly after Paleogene this rigid block transmitted to the north-eastern
Moesian compartment the compression to the west.
A result of this action is the subduction of this compartment against the Carpathians.
Key words: compressional efforts, remodeling, subduction.
