DATA EVALUATIONS BY HISTOGRAM FLOWS
(Abstract)
While histograms may be used to unveil significant correlations in the studied
system, care should be taken when choosing the data sampling mode: we emphasize
here the (possibly strong) effect induced by the number of intervals. In response
we propose a supplementary method to study distributions, which relies on the
application of an entropy-type estimator to a flow to histograms for the same
data set. Links with fractal parameters are emphasized and their effectiveness
for the stated purpose is discussed. Examples treat real experimental data.
