EMPHASIZING CERTAIN CLIMATE JUMPS AT THE REGIONAL AND GLOBAL LEVEL
(Abstract)
In order to seek the climate trends and jumps in temperature and 500 hPa
geopotential fields, parametric as well as nonparametric statistical tests
have been applied.
The testing of the synchronous and asynchronous dependencies between the interval
elements of the climate and external elements (CO2 and the solar activity),
have also been achieved (for the temperature field) and power spectra have
been applied based on FFT and on the maximum entropy method in order to emphasize
the quasi-periodicities. The obtained results reveal certain regional differences
as against the climate trends and jumps at the hemispheric and global level
and the increase of the CO2 concentration does not clearly cause a temperature
increase in the area of our country.
An interesting result concerning the predictability was obtained from the processing
of the temperature data from Prague, where the long observation series (213
years) allowed the calculation of the signal-to-noise ratio, by using long
averaging intervals.
Key words: climate umps, temperature, 500 hPa geopotential, signal-to-noise
ratio, power spectra.
