STRUCTURE AND MORPHOLOGY OF THE TRANSYLVANIAN
DEPRESSION ACCORDING TO SOME GEOPHYSICAL DATA
(Abstract)
This paper presents the structure and the morphology of the crystalline-Mesozoic
basement in the Transylvanian Depression. These have been noticed towards the
east and under the neogene volcanic cover of the Eastern Carpathians. It also
deals with problems connected to the deep structure, starting from the whole
gravimetric and regional magnetic data, which permit us to clarify the existence
of an oceanic crust fragments in which a big basic intrusion is preserved.
Key words: Transylvanian Depression, crystalline-Mesozoic basement, basaltic
layer, crustal fault, morphostructure, digitation, seismic isobaths, drilling,
post-tectonic cover, overthrust nappes, gravimetric anomaly, regional magnetic
anomaly.
