PROCESSING OF GAMMA-RAY SPECTRA OBTAINED BY
ACTIVATION OF THERMAL NEUTRON
(Abstract)
The authors present a processing method of the gamma-ray spectra obtained
by the instrumental neutron activation analysis of the geological samples.
The method is based on the approximation of the gamma spectrum measured with
a theoretical model and uses the "least-squares criterion" for computation
of its parameters.
The precision of the parameters estimation, the degree of approximation and
the convergence speed of the algorithm used are discussed; the authors also
show the computer subroutines written in FORTRAN language, conceived and used
in the "Radiometry and Nuclear Geology Laboratory" of the Geological
and Geophysical Institute, Bucharest.
