ON THE GEOMAGNETIC ANOMALY SITUATED TO THE NORTH-EAST
OF SUCEAVA CITY
(Abstract)
To the north-east of Suceava city an anomaly of the geomagnetic field was
mapped, of isolated character and having a particular pattern in respect with
all others known in the northern part of Moldavia.
The modeling of its source using modern techniques and the interpretation of
the obtained model permit to draw the conclusion that this anomaly is generated
by a geological body of granitic or granogneissic nature embodied in the crystalline
basement of the Moldavian Platform. This one, that form west to Siret river
falls into successive steps, represents the basement of outer limb of the Pre-Carpathian
Foredeep. The depth of the upper face of the infracrystalline body obtained
by the modeling process is of magnitude order of three kilometers.
