THE ZERO-METHOD PENDULUM WITH ELECTRONIC CONTROL
(Abstract)
The paper presents the constituent elements of our zero-methods pendulum,
equipped with a photoelectric-type transducer of the mobile rotation-arm, automatic
compensation being achieved by the electronic drive of a piezoelectric ceramics.
The stability at the aleatory perturbations, as well as the performances of
the realized system – fidelity, sensitivity – have been studied.
The zero-method pendulum – a resolution of 5 • 10-9 rad – has
a very good linearity, allows remote control of the functional parameters,
telerecording and digitization of the data, the space necessary to set it up
being small comparatively with the conventional horizontal pendulum.
The system can be used for Earth tide recordings as well as for the study of
the deformations within massive structures, respectively the deformations of
the Earth's crust caused by such structures.
The system can also be used for the study of the deformations of the Earth's
crust due to the relative displacements of the tectonic plates in seismic active
zones.
