(Abstract)

On the basis of abundant observation data regarding the magnetic susceptibility measured on more than 50,000 core samples from the exploration wells in the Iazuri – Vladeasa area (Poiana Rusca Mountains, Romania), some aspects of petromagnetic methodology are analysed.
Four methodological alternatives have been elaborated, each with a magnetic susceptibility distribution pattern. Two of these petromagnetic patterns are discussed in the first part of the paper. The susceptibility maps – presented in two variants here – give some useful information concerning the two complexes of the Ghelar series which characterize the Iazuri perisynclinal structure green tuffogene schists – Middle Devonian and sericito-chlorito-quartzose schists – Upper Devonian). The magnetite-bearing mineralization distribution within the first complex mentioned is clearly outlined by means of this petromagnetic pattern. Finally, experimental results in connection with the magnetic susceptibility anisotropy of the epimetamorphic schists from the Iazuri – Vladeasa zone are presented. Some elements regarding the magnetic fabric of the rocks are given.
