SOME PETROMAGNETIC METHODOLOGICAL ALTERNATIVES APPLIED TO THE
MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY STUDY OF THE EPIMETAMORPHIC SCHISTS FROM THE POIANA
RUSCA MOUNTAINS
I. PATTERNS OF VERTICAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE SUSCEPTIBILITY
(Abstract)
On the basis of abundant observation data regarding the magnetic susceptibility
measured on more than 50,000 core samples from the exploration wells situated
in the Iazuri-Vladeasa area (Poiana Rusca Mountains, Romania) some aspects
of petromagnetic methodology are discussed.
Four methodological alternative were elaborated, each of them showing a magnetic
susceptibility distribution pattern. In the first part of the paper, the patterns
of vertical distribution of the susceptibility are only discussed. The graphs
and the sections of the vertical magnetic susceptibility distribution give
some useful information concerning the two complexes of rocks of the Ghelar
series characteristic of the Iazuri perisynclinal structure (the green tuffogene
schists – Middle Devonian – and the sericito-chlorito-quartzose
schists – Upper Devonian). The magnetite bearing mineralization distribution
within the first complex mentioned is clearly outlined by means of these petromagnetic
patterns.
Another two patterns of distribution of the magnetic susceptibility (maps and
anisotropy diagrams) are to be presented in the second part of the paper.
