THE NORTH-EASTERN PART OF THE PANNONIAN DEPRESSION
(Abstract)
The active nature of some tectonic lines are derived from the distribution
of both earthquake foci and coseismic geological phenomena (soil fissures with
artesian water, gas, vapour and sand appearances).
These dislocations delimit the marginal sink system interposed between the
Pannonian Depression in fact and the mountainous frame in its north-eastern
part (Oradea-Carei zone).
They affect in the whole the basement as well as the sedimentary cover, permitting
in consequence the surficial issue, during the 15 X 1834 earthquake, of thermal
waters and Pontian sands.
