MICROZONING STUDIES FOR STRUCTURES DESIGN IMPROVEMENT
IN SEISMIC REGIONS
(Abstract)
The purpose of seismic microzoning studies is to define the parameters of
seismic action on limited areas, in direct connection with geological, geotechnical,
lithological and hidrogeological characteristics of the ground.
The experienced microzoning methods based on the based on the microseisms recording
allows specifying the dynamic characteristics of the ground proper motion period,
amplification coefficients, selectivity, etc. From recordings and their processing
at some locations in Bucharest it resulted that the analyzed grounds have different
characteristics from place to place, with well defined predominant periods.
The selectivity is generally, more pronounced for the horizontal components
a compared with vertical components.
The hypotheses on the existing correlation between spectral characteristics
of the ground motion and geological setting have been made.
