A SPECTRAL THEORY OF SEISMIC SOURCES AND FORMULAS
FOR DETERMINING THE PARAMETERS OF EARTHQUAKE FOCI
(Abstract)
In the first part of the paper, a spectral theory of the seismic sources
is worked out, considering the earthquake foci as pass-band filter systems.
The theory is concretized and checked for the double couple with moment source
in dislocation theory. The spectral function of the source is compared with
spectral functions obtained by other authors (Randall, Archambeau, Brune).
On the basis of the elaborated spectral theory, the formulae for the determination
of some geometric and dynamic parameters of earthquake foci are presented in
the second part of the paper.
