ON THE TEMPERATURE-DEPTH DISTRIBUTION IN SOME
TECTONIC UNITS IN ROMANIA
(Abstract)
The paper presents some results concerning the temperature-depth distribution in the Pannonian Depression, Transilvanian Depression, the neogene volcanic area and the crystalline zone of the Eastern Carpathians. A light weight thermistor bore hole thermometer of high accuracy (± 0.03°C) was built and used. The measurements were taken only in holes allowed to rest long enough after the drilling ceased, in order to avoid errors due to the effect of the drilling process on the natural temperature field. A discussion is made on the peculiarities of the thermal regime of the investigated units, as rendered evident by the measured temperatures and gradients.
