NEW RESULTS IN THE APPLICATION OF HIGH FRREQUECY SEISMIC IN THE OHABA-PONOR AREA
Abstract
We present the result of investigations concerning the application of high
frequency seismic in the ore prospecting.
The field recordings have been carried out in the Ohaba-Ponor area (Sebes Mountains),
where the geological survey has shown the existence of bauxite accumulations
in low areas of the mesozoic relief.
We can show that it is possible to map the relief of limestones on which the
bauxite lies, consequently to the delimiting of zone favourable to the bauxite
accumulations.
In good seismic-geological conditions (we mean appropriate distribution of
the velocities and layers thick enough) we succeeded in following the surface
of the bauxite lenses.
