(Abstract)

In the present paper the crustal and mantle structure is studied, by using the P wave travel times of shallow earthquakes with epicentres in the Romanian territory.
For Conrad and Mohorovicic discontinuities, in the south-east part of Europe there were obtained the average values 24.5 km and 36 km, respectively.
The travel times T = f() from = 13° to 92° can be represented by six straight line segments indicating abrupt velocity changes around 23°, 35°, 50°, 65° and 79°.
