GEOPHONE TYPE SELECTION AND GEOPHONE CONNECTION
IN PATTERNS, AS AN IMPORTANT TOOL IN SEISMIC RECORDS FILTERING
(Abstract)
The vertical component of the ground velocity (the geophone case velocity)
is the subject to a frequency filtering process prior to its appearance as
an electrical signal to the seismic amplifier input.
The characteristics of this filter depend on the geophone parameters, the electrical
connector mode in the geophone patter, the seismic cable impedance and the
input impedance of the amplifier.
A detailed study concerning the filtering effect of the total system comprising:
geophone patterns, seismic cable and amplifier input has been made. The paper
presents the optimum combination of geophone pattern and a method used to plot
the frequency characteristics of this optimum combination by means of a digital
computer.
The equivalent electrical circuit of the geophone with a method used in the
computation of its parameters and generally, the overall electrical equivalent
circuit of the system has been presented.
