FROM THE METALLIFEROUS MOUNTAINS

Abstract

The importance of Petromagnetism as a new science and the state of the researches in this field in the Romanian People's Republic are emphasized.
The history of the discovery of the anomalies of reverse magnetisation known so far on the territory of the R.P.R. is also described. From the six anomalies of this kind, that are known, one is located in the Neogene eruptive zone of the Caliman Mountains, the rest of five being located in the Metalliferous Mountains. There is also given the map of the characteristic sections of each anomaly, as well as a general map with their location. There has been noticed that all the anomalies of reverse magnetisation are located on the peripheries of the Neogene eruptive zone. The author points out some peculiar general and particular features of these anomalies, which can be of use for the future researches in this field.
The existence of other classes of special cases of magnetisation in the Neogene eruptive rocks from the Metalliferous Mountains, pointed out by the author, is also recorded. These cases are also exemplified graphically.
