The significance of a uranium anomaly can often be most readily estimated from gamma spectrometric measurements of the ratio between the concentration levels of uranium, thorium and potassium. Today a large selection of gamma spectrometers especially designed to meet the uranium prospector's requirements, are commercially available. This paper presents some elements of metrology by "in situ" gamma ray spectrometry with Mc Phar S 44 and Exploruranium spectrometers. Algorithms are given for anomalies significance analysis by means of radios between channels of the used spectrometer contents.
The advantages of the proposed method are pointed out by three geological cases.
