This paper presents a procedure applicable to magnetic anomalies due to two-dimensional structures. The method assumes that all causative bodies have uniform magnetization and a cross-section which can be represented by a polygon of finite extent. It is shown that the horizontal and vertical derivatives of the magnetic anomalies are Hilbert-transform pairs. These are used to create an analytical function, depending only on the depth of the upper singularity of the causative body. The presented procedure, based on the mentioned considerations, allows to obtain the depth of the bodies which cause the measured magnetic anomaly, without being necessary to make any assumptions upon the magnetic susceptibilities of the sources.
