The authors present the main features of the finite element method in the direct resistivity problems. As an example, it has been computed the anomalous effect of a prism. Beforehand, the potentials computed with finite element method in a homogeneous medium have been compared with the theoretical values, in order to point out the significant errors in result. A simulation for resistivity surveying with different Wenner arrays in the case of a non conducting prism, has been performed. As a conclusion it was found that the optimum array has dimensions of the same magnitude order as the prism.
