The accumulation of an important quantity of gravity and aeromagnetic data
concerning the southern part of the Apuseni Mountains made possible to elaborate
a wide geophysical synthesis.
This synthesis permits to make some suggestions related with the structure
of the ophiolitic zone and surrounding geological units.
It was specially inferred that the ophiolitic rocks from the Apuseni Mountains
can be divided into two domains: the ophiolitic trench of the Metaliferi Mountains
and the ophiolitic Transylvanian domains, separated by the Trascau-Sibot-Cugir
cordillera. Geophysical data also allowed to point out, within the ophiolitic
trench of the Metaliferi Mountains, some major structural-magmatic features
like intrusive alignments, strato-vulcano alignments and regional fractures.
In the southern part of the ophiolitic trench of the Metaliferi Mountains the
authors made an attempt for a two-dimensional gravity and magnetic modeling,
in connection with the geological picture deduced from the geophysical data.
