According to Pecker et al, the "red shift" of atrophysics may be the result of a loss of energy for an electromagnetic monofrequency wave. Frequency decreases of the same type, always due to energy losses, are to be found in Geophysics: the period decreases asymptotically towards a constant value as time increases and the wave is going further from its source. This conception is not in contradiction with the dispersion theory.
