The paper presents some new magnetic and geological data, which refute the
presence of the neogene eruptive in the central part of the Transylvanian Depression.
Quantitative interpretations of the aeromagnetic data, in connection with the
established magnetic properties of the neogene formations, support this result
and, in addition, complete the image of the deep structure of the central and
southern part of the depression. The regional magnetic anomaly reflects the
risc of the basaltic cover and the presence of a basic intrusive body on a
crustal fracture, which shows the border between the Transylvanian domain and
Southern Carpathians.
