The authors present an attempt of correlation between the deep geological structure characterized by systematic crustal, regional and local fractures geophysically identified, and on the other hand the post-volcanic manifestations (mofettic, solfatarian and thermal activities and travertin laying-down) of the Calimani – Harghita eruptive on the southern segment of theEastern Carpathians. The zonal distribution of the post-volcanic manifestations is pointed out in relation with the mass of the Calimani – Harghita eruptive: sporadic mofettic and solfatarian manifestations on the eruptive area – moare frequent, more complex and more intense in the neighbouring zones, and progressively weaker in the distant ones. It clearly results the part played by the deep dislocations in determining such zonality as well as the contribution of the cover faults to the distribution of the superficial manifestations. Drilling works attest that the mofettic and thermal activities remain in the deep zones where cover faults are absent or closed (in crystalline and flisch formations) or they are covered by younger formations as for example the mio-pliocene ones on the eastern border of the Transylvanian Depressions.
