RELATION OF INTERNAL FIELDS OF DISLOCATIONS
AND CRACKS TO EARTHQUAKE PROCESSES

by R. TEISSEYRE

In this paper a relation of earthquake processes to an internal system of dislocations and cracks is discussed. The equivalence of thermal stresses with dislocation density field is underlined, special attention being paid to thermal field of convection current. Also there is discussed a role of block-like structures in the crust and upper mantle on the dislocation processes.
A more detailed analysis of crack initiation under the influence of a piled-up group of dislocations is considered.
Considerations are given on the dislocational processes occuring at an inclusion containing fluid phase. The condition of crack initiation as well as the energy balance of the dislocations-crack process are determined.
