The mechanism of deep earthquakes in the Tyrrhenian Sea is studied. The fault
planes have the predominant direction parallel to the seismic Calabrian arc.
The T stresses act horizontally in perpendicular direction with respect to
the Calabrian seismic arc. The earthquakes are of the Vt type – normal
faulting.
