STRUCTURE OF THE EARTH'S CRUST IN ROMANIA
AS BASED ON THE GRAVIMETRIC DATA

M. SOCOLESCU, D. POPOVICI, M. VISARION and V. ROSCA

In concordance with the isostatic anomalies, the density of the geological formations and the assumption that the intermediate layer has a uniform thickness, was drawn the form of the Mohorovicic discontinuity under the Romanian territory. This discontinuity presents an important inflection under the Eastern Carpathians and another smaller inflexion, parallel to the first and passing across the Apuseni Mountains. Both of them are parallel with the trend of the known Craistides from the region of Moravian Valley and Western Balkans. These inflexions are correlated with the magnetic phenomena of the orogenic belts and form the support of the metallogenetic provinces.
